Laugh away the pain
Everything feels better after a good laugh. In fact, it even increases our tolerance to pain! Scientists at Oxford University found that when we chuckle away – not just a little titter but a good hearty guffaw – the physical exertion releases endorphins that help us manage pain and promote feelings of wellbeing. The research suggests that watching just 15 minutes of comedy with others increases our pain threshold by about 10 per cent. So the next time you’re feeling under the weather, head out to your local comedy club or invite your friends over for a funny film night!
